For the first time in its history, the African continent hosts the Fifa World Cup, in the nation of South Africa. Terrell Clark presents three images, for acquisition, that represent a testament of the human will. Kids of Monyunyo, Daily Practice 1 and Daily Practice 2 are part of the EYES of UGANDA art collection, which has been fashioned from his travels to Uganda, East Africa. As South Africa hosts the world’s best national football teams, the youths in these three images represent the foundation and the spirit of hope for future football players (football is widely referred to in the United States as soccer).
While in Uganda, Terrell was afforded the opportunity to intimately engage with the people of this amazing country. With a focus on children, he witnessed and documented the Ugandan youth’s ability to sustain with very little. When it comes to sports, particularly football, this ability is ubiquitous amongst the youth of Uganda. Often, as seen in these images, children play football without shoes and in some cases with makeshift balls, markers or other articles. In many parts of the world, it is from these humble environs that many of today’s football champions are born. It is also from these conditions that the spirit of unity, cooperation and dedication are fostered.
These open edition canvas prints are for those who wish to own a unique piece of the history of football and its future. In addition, Terrell Clark will make a generous 15% donation to Charity Ball from each print that is sold. Charity Ball’s mission of donating footballs to children in underprivileged parts of the world will have a major impact on the way these children will experience the world’s most popular sport.
